Business Course Descriptions

Keyboarding

Keyboarding provides an opportunity for students to operate the keyboard by touch and develop acceptable speed and accuracy levels. Formatting of basic documents such as business letters, reports, memoranda, and tables is also included.

General Business

General business introduces students to the personal finance skills they will utilize during and after high school. Students will have the opportunity to research careers, create resumes, complete job applications, practice interview techniques, learn to use savings and checking accounts, understand the cost of credit, complete tax returns, and learn the basics of insurance.

Accounting I

This class introduces students to accounting concepts, principles, cycles, and basic accounting transactions. It provides the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for individuals to conduct personal business or to further their education in the field of accounting.

Office Technology

Office Technology is designed to incorporate and expand on office skills learned in keyboarding and Accounting I. Students are introduced to the effects of technology on the office of tomorrow. Students practice skills in evolving technologies while working on interpersonal skills vital to a successful career.

In-House Training

Students will apply their business and communications skills in the completion of live work projects requested by community and school organizations.

Publications

Students will produce a yearbook utilizing the principles of design and recording the sights and sounds of the year through quality photography and reporting.
