Exciting Spring Concerts!!!

Hello again all!!! Things are going fantastically this year! The ensembles are sounding good and we are preparing for two very exciting concerts this spring. The first will be our spring concert on April 7 in which we will be premiering two brand new band pieces written specifically for, and dedicated to, the Satanta High School band!!! Both composers will be in attendance and each will take a turn directing a piece that they clinic our band on. We will also have a couple of guest artists (professional symphony players!) who will be coming in to work with the band and choir and each will take a turn soloing with and accompanying each of the groups performing. You won’t want to miss this one!! You will hear some music and instruments played that, I’m positive, you’ve never heard before along with a wide range of wonderful and exciting music.

 

On May 6, we will put on a POPS Concert which will consist almost exclusively of big band, jazz, rock and roll, musicals, and movie music. This concert promises to be loads of fun and will feature someone in the administration directing the band on one tune!!! Shhh…they don’t know yet!!! Warning: I might, also, do some dancing…come at your own risk!! Also featured will be the solos and ensembles that achieve a “I” rating at the state solo and ensemble competition!!

 

Make sure you attend our guest ensemble performances, as well!! On April 8 at 9:30am, the Kansas State University Concert Choir will be stopping at Satanta High School to put on a performance. You won’t want to miss it!!! We are also in the planning stages of a Bassoon/French horn duet recital on April 6 in the afternoon. Keep your eye out for that one as it is on the horizon!!! As you can see, we are doing some exciting things here in the music department at Satanta high school.
