FAC’S CLASSES GOING WELL
March 05, 2008
In Nutrition and Wellness the 2 classes have been learning about vegetarian style of eating. They tasted tofu and made a tasty stir fry using tofu as the protein source. They also made a delicious chocolate peanut butter pie that had tofu in it which was a big hit. They tried 2 different smoothie recipes and to finish off the week we grilled soy protein and portabella veggie burgers to experience that taste. It was a fun week.
In Home II/ Parenting we were asked by the LTCU if we could make an Octaband so with a picture and a few dimensions we constructed a sixteen leg Octaband that the residents can use for different stretching activities. We delivered the Octaband and watched it being demonstrated one day last week.
The students in 7th and 8th grade explorations have been busy on the sewing machines, learning the parts of a machine, learning to thread one and are now working on their projects. 7th grade will make pocket Kleenex holders and aprons and the 8th grade are making 9 patch pillows. The 8th grade finishes the class on March 7th to move to another explorations class for the last nine weeks.
Independent Living students have been learning how to resolve conflicts, build family relationships, solve problems in their life, manage technology and balance work and family life through reading the text book and having class discussions. They will help make the snacks for the upcoming annual spring fling.
