New Teacher on the Block

by Millie Glennn

September 19, 2008

Hi!  My name is Millie Glenn.  I am married, without children but we plan on it in the future.  Our pets are our babies, two cats and a dog.  I graduated from Texas Wesleyan in Fort Worth, just down the road from where I grew up.  After graduating, I came back to Arlington in search of a job and got lucky enough to teach where I went to school, Bailey Junior High.  I was there seven years, teaching seventh and eighth grade.  Now I am very excited to be teaching in Satanta, though it is a long way from home.  I was born in Springfield, Missouri, but my family moved to Arlington, Texas soon after I was born so that’s what I call “home.”  Arlington is home to the Six Flags, Hurricane Harbor, the Texas Rangers, and soon the Dallas Cowboys.  Yes, my husband and I are huge Cowboys fans; Kansas is not going to change that.  You may be wondering what brought us to Kansas.  Well my husband took a job farming with a close family friend in Hugoton.  We live in Moscow but I got hired here in Satanta.  I love this little town.  Everyone has been so nice, helpful, and welcoming!  The faculty at the school district, not just at the grade school, have been very supportive.  I have enjoyed so many of the community functions, the ice cream social, back to school luncheon, and much more.  I do miss home from time to time, but everyone here in Satanta has made it not so difficult, especially my homeroom class, which is pictured here with me.  They are an awesome group of kids, but so are all the students I’ve met, not just the ones I teach.  It is so nice to hear “Hi, Mrs. Glenn” from all students as I walk down the hall.  It makes my day.  Satanta citizens, adults and children, and Satanta school employees, thank you for making this transition in life such a positive one.
