Spelling Bee

The Spelling Bee for the grade school was on January 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the gym. Students in grades four, five, and six participated. Each classroom had three students in the spelling bee.
First place honors went to J. Ledezma, 2nd place was B. Thorne and 3rd place was A. Carrette. These students will represent Satanta Grade School at the Haskell County Spelling Bee. The alternate for the county spelling bee is M. Howe.
The Spelling Bee for the junior high was February 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the library. First place honors went to W. Stanfill, 2nd place was E. Stalker and 3rd place was A. Brown.These students will represent Satanta Jr. High at the Haskell County Spelling Bee. The alternate for the county bee is R. Pando.
Satanta hosted the Haskell County Spelling Bee on February 17 at 1:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
Each school from Satanta and Sublette had three students represented in the county spelling bee for a total of twelve participants. First place honors went to J. Garetson from Sublette Middle School, 2nd place was Q. Gonzalez from Sublette Grade School, and third place was W. Stanfill from Satanta Junior High.
The winner of the Haskell County Spelling Bee will compete in the Regional Spelling Bee in Great Bend on March 13. The Regional winner goes on to compete at the National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. in May.
The Scripps National Spelling Bee study site for school spelling champions created in cooperation with Merriam-Webster is Spell It! This web site focuses on about 1150 words, divided into sections by language of origin. Students are encouraged to use this web site to study for the spelling bee.
