High School Cheerleaders

This has been the first time in several years that the high school squad has had a full squad.  The girls went to the UCA cheerleading camp hosted in Lindsborg, KS, as well as to a day camp in Dodge City on August 29, 2007.

They have had a busy year so far with three home games and pep rallies to plan for. This week is homecoming, and the cheerleaders are planning a community pep rally at the Methodist Park right after the parade Friday afternoon.  There will be t-shirts, pom-poms, and mini-footballs supplied by the Satanta Booster club, and the squad will be performing a hip-hop dance routine, a new stunt and cheers to get the crowd ready for the Homecoming contest against the Kinsley Coyotes.  They would like to invite the community to join in on the fun and catch the Homecoming ’07 fever.

The 2007-08 junior high cheerleading squad began planning activities before school ever let out last spring. Their first public performance occurred in the Satanta Day parade, where they displayed signs and performed a cheer and stunt for the parade onlookers.  They also went to Lindsborg, KS, June 11-14 for cheerleading camp with UCA and August 29 to Dodge City for a day camp.

So far they have only had one home game and planned their first pep rally. October 4 is the next home game, and the squad plans to toss out t-shirts and footballs to the home crowd.

The group already performs several stunts, including elevator, thigh to split, shoulder stand and sit, knee toss to elevator, and cradle, and their goals are to have their flyer (K. Blair) perform a twist dismount and to perform a liberty and extension as well as a stunt called the Grizzly bear.

October 15-18 is the junior high spirit week and the week of their last home football game, where they will be performing a dance routine during the halftime of the football game.
