Satanta Junior High Boys Basketball Off to a 6-0 Start
By Ty Blair
Basketball season is officially underway for the Junior High Indians. Going into their 7th game of the season, the Satanta Junior High boys are undefeated. This record includes quality wins against SPIAA league rivals Hodgeman County, Spearville, and South Central. “Our win against South Central on the road was huge for us,” said 8th grader Conner Lynch. This winning streak includes not only the A boys but also Satanta Junior High’s B and C teams which, collectively have an overall record of 14-0-1. The tie came in a half of a C game.
First-year coach, Mrs. Joyce Apsley is having a good time coaching this group of young men. “We have set team goals that we are working towards one game at time. We are also setting individual goals and working towards attaining them,” Apsley stated. Apsley also indicated that she enjoys every practice because the boys show up ready to work and really love the game. Coach Chuck Lozar is the assistant coach and is a vital part of what the boys have accomplished so far. With many more games ahead of them, overtime work at practice might be a key role in keeping the record going. The Indians will face Ashland on December 14 at Ashland.
