Satanta Prom Brings the Glamour of Hollywood Home

By Jacob Miramontes

On April 8, Satanta held its annual Junior-Senior Prom. The theme for this year was a Night in Hollywood. The evening started early with photos by Studio 113 of couples and later class photos of the juniors and seniors. After the pictures were taken, the promenade began at 6:00 p.m. Students in attendance walked through the commons area and showed off their dresses and tuxedos to family and friends. Brent Howie provided music for the promenade, and Ryan Burrows read the names of those in attendance.

Students were then seated in the cafeteria for a dinner catered by John Ross Catering that consisted of brisket, cheesy potatoes, green beans, rolls, salad, and dessert. Following the meal, everyone viewed the seniors’ class wills and prophecies before heading out for the traditional cruise before the dance, which was DJ’d by Big Chile Productions.

After-prom festivities were then provided by the senior parents at Satanta High School. Students enjoyed blow-up bouncy houses and a mechanical bull as well as open gym among many other activities. Breakfast was served around 3:30 a.m. and cash and prizes were given to those in attendance. Everyone was safely home by 4:00 a.m. A few brave souls were later spotted in church on Sunday morning, still in their formal attire. Junior class sponsors Courtney Dunn and Janie Lutz were pleased with the outcome of the evening and thankful for those  juniors who returned on Sunday afternoon to clean the cafeteria. Those who helped clean up were given the opportunity to eat the leftover food from Prom night on Monday at noon.
