Satanta Prepares for Homecoming 2018

By Claudia Jones

The theme for Fall Homecoming at Satanta High School is “The Indians of Oz.” Activities for this Oz-inspired event will begin on Monday, September 24. Throughout the USD 507 school district, Spirit Week will kick off the week’s fun. On Monday, all Satanta students are encouraged to wear the gear of their favorite sports team (lions and tigers and bears, oh my!); Tuesday, September 25 will be “Sleeping in the Flowers” pajama day. Wednesday, September 26th  will be “Wicked vs Good” day; wear black or white. Thursday, September 27 will be “A Pair of Slippers” twin day. Dress up with your twin! Then, on Friday, September 28, the schools will observe “Victory in the Emerald City” day; wear green and gold to support the Satanta Indians football team as they take on Chase for Homecoming.

The community of Satanta is invited to participate in a number of other Homecoming-related activities as well. On September 27, there with be a Bonfire at 8:00 PM at the Satanta High School. On September 28, the Homecoming parade will start at 2:30 PM and wind its way down Main Street. Immediately following the parade, a community pep rally will be held at the Satanta Grade School. The sophomore class will be serving a hamburger meal prior to the game with serving beginning at 5:30 p.m. The coronation ceremony will be held at the football stadium at 6:30 PM.

Homecoming week will come to a close with a dance in the high school cafeteria hosted by the KAYs and FBLA organizations.
