Satanta High School National Honor Society to Host Blood Drive
By Leslie Cabrera
The American Red Cross is coming back Satanta this January. This scholarship drive will be hosted by Satanta National Honor Society in the Satanta High School Cafeteria, on Thursday, January 10, 2019, from 2:00 PM till 6:00 PM.
The need for such donations is continual, as these statistics provided by the American Red Cross reveal:
- A single donation of blood can save up to three lives.
- Approximately 36,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day in the U.S.
- Nearly 7,000 units of platelets and 10,000 units of plasma are needed daily in the U.S.
- Nearly 21 million blood components are transfused each year in the U.S.
You can help meet this need! To schedule your appointment contact Ryan Burrows at 620-649-2611 or visit www.redcross.org/give-blood.html to schedule an appointment online. High school students are eligible for donation, but all 16- and 17-year-olds are required to have a signed parental permission form in order to donate. All donors will need to bring an ID and should be prepared to ask questions during a private and confidential interview about your health history.
