The Face Slimmer is an Asian product that helps work out the face. Guest speaker, Sue Sprenkle, a SCCC journalism instructor, brought this silly item to the Satanta Grade School on Wednesday, December 6. She had four teachers, Mr. Ryan Burrows, Mrs. Karen Burrows, Ms. Courtney Esarey, and Mrs. Millie Glenn, demonstrate how the product works.

“This product made me feel ridiculous, and all the kids were laughing at me,” said Glenn.

The purpose of Sue Sprenkle’s visit was actually not to humiliate teachers but rather to teach the 5th grade class how to write a newspaper article professionally. This visit marked the third grade school visit for Mr. Burrows’ whose English IV class, which has been paired with 5th graders to help them develop the writing skills they need to create articles for both the county newspaper and the USD 507 website.

“Our long-term goal is to create district-wide online publication that showcases student writing,” said Mr. Burrows, who is looking to team-up again with Sprenkle again January. “We also hope to expand the newspaper writing process throughout our school with the goal of also getting junior high students to write articles,” said Burrows. “We’ve also been invited to visit our fourth grade class, which is an exciting opportunity for growth,” he concluded. “For now, I’ll have to settle for tighter facial muscles,” he said.
