Satanta High School Students Receive SPIAA League Football and Volleyball Honors

The fall sports season came to end in October; the Southern Plains-Iroquois Activities Association (SPIAA) subsequently awarded students from its member schools with volleyball and football league honors. Several Satanta students received all-league honors.
Satanta senior Brooke Abernathy was named second team all-league in volleyball. Senior Gabriel Salas was recognized as a member of the all-league football team as running back for his season, which included 916 yards 14 rushing touchdowns and four receiving touchdowns. Senior Kris Wagner also received all-league honors as center. Houston Friend, junior, was recognized with a league honorable mention as quarterback for the Indians with a total of 15 touchdowns. Other honorable mentions went to defensive end Alan Olivas, junior, with a total of eight sacks and 82 total tackles and Angel Manriquez, sophomore, who had a total of 197 receiving yards and 69 tackles.
The next round of all-league honors will come in January 2019 when all-league scholars’ bowl honors are announced at the SPIAA League Scholars’ Bowl Tournament to be held at Pawnee Heights on January 7.
