Satanta FCCLA Well Represented at State, Looks Toward Nationals

The 73rd annual Kansas FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) State Leadership Conference was held in Wichita, Kansas, on April 7-9, 2019. Six Satanta FCCLA members: Kara Kunselman, Sicely Jackson, Addison King, Maddison Jaso, Ava Howie, and Ella Burrows, attended the conference where they “Uncovered the Clues to FCCLA!”


While at the conference, Kunselman, King, Jaso, Howie, and Burrows competed in the state STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) competition. Kunselman and Jaso both received a silver medal in their categories. King, Howie, and Burrows all received gold medals, and Burrows and Howie qualified for national STAR events competition in the Focus on Children category. They will compete at Nationals in Anaheim, California this June.


Additionally, Satanta FCCLA was awarded the state National Programs in Action award in both the FACTS (Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety) and Families First categories. They were also runners-up in the Student Body category.


While at the conference, Jackson, Howie, and Kunselman were inducted as Kansas FCCLA district officers. Burrows was inducted as the 2019-2020 State First Vice President. Satanta FCCLA was well represented at SLC!
