Satanta Track Team Strikes Gold, Silver, and Bronze at Haskell County Relays

The Satanta High School track and field team had a strong showing at the 2019 Haskell County Relays held in Sublette on April 23, 2019. In spite of the rainy conditions, the team brought home many medals.

 

Satanta senior Gabriel Salas won the 100m with a time of 11.89, won the 400m with a time of 54.50, tied for first in the 200m with a time of 23.40, and won the long jump, jumping 21-07.50; Satanta sophomore Junior Puerto placed third in the 1600m with a personal best of 5:09.74 and second in the 3200m with a time of 11:24.90; Satanta sophomore Rosalio Ruiz placed sixth in the 800m with a time of 2:23.50 and sixth in the 1600m with a time of 5:21.39.


On the women’s side, Sicely Jackson took first in the 100m with a time of 12.92, tied for first in the 200m with a time of 26.20, and first in the 400m with a time of 1:01.10. Ella Burrows took third in the 1600m with a time of 6:29.26 and second in the 3200m with a time of 14:35.50. Addison King took fourth in the 300m with a time of 57.90.

 

In a field of 13 teams, the Indians placed fourth on the men’s side and 5th on the women’s. The team is coached by Janie Lutz and Karen Burrows.
