Satanta Seniors Establish Scholarship in Honor of Fallen Classmate

The Satanta High School Class of 2019 recently announced that a scholarship in honor of fallen classmate Brandon Salas has been established. Four members of the class, Brian Duran, Lizahi Quiñonez-Salas, Gabriel Salas, and Kris Wagner, will manage the scholarship, which will be housed at Centera Bank, Satanta, where funds will be overseen by Kevin Wagner, Teresa Anthony, and Stephanie Anton, who will serve as administrators of the fund.

A scholarship selection committee consisting of Joyce Apsley, Ryan Burrows, Janie Lutz, and Crystal Naylor was named. Kris Wagner outlined the committee’s duties, explaining that the role of “this committee is to judge the applicants, inform Duran, Quiñonez-Salas, Salas, and me of the winner, and contact Kevin Wagner at the bank to inform him of who is to receive the check, which will be made out to the individual after he or she shows completion of the first college semester and enrollment in the second. It is our hope that someday members of the Class of 2019 will take the responsibilities of serving on the scholarship committee.”

This scholarship will be offered to seniors at Satanta High School beginning in the spring of 2020 and will include a requirement that each applicant write an essay on friendship, a cornerstone on the Class of 2019. Those interested in contributing to the fund to support the future continuation of this scholarship should contact Centera Bank, Satanta.
