Boys’ Basketball Team Stays Busy Over Summer
By Beau Stewart
Due to the current adversity that the world is going through, there haven't been many opportunities to participate in school activities. In spite of this, several Satanta High school basketball boys got the chance to compete in the Kiowa County Basketball Tournament this summer.
Head coach Tim Dusin, who has tried every summer to provide his team with opportunities to sharpen their skills, has taken a team to the tournament all 3 of the years it has been held. In fact, Coach Dusin stressed the importance of “touching the ball and getting back into things” before the season started.
Representing Satanta were Kacen Anthony, Ayden Garcia, Isaiah Garcia, Alexis Macias, Victor Manriquez, David Meza, Alexis Moreno, Angel Munoz, Edwin Rodriguez and Beau Stewart.
The team exited the tournament with a 3-3 record, as Satanta saw wins against Minneola, Minneola JV and Kiowa County and dropped games against Bucklin, Macksville and Hodgeman County. When asked about the team’s record, Coach Dusin states that “the boys would have done better if they had just executed what needed to be done.”
Coach Dusin is looking forward to the upcoming season, saying, “I feel like we’ve got a good group of guys coming through who will put in the work and be very competitive.”
