A New Face in the Art Department
By Abbi Boese
One of the new faces in Satanta High School is Christine Ramirez, the new art teacher. She grew up in Montezuma, KS, and was homeschooled K-12. She went to Dodge City Community College, Liberty University, and is currently attending online classes at Fort Hays State University. Both being an art teacher and being in the high school environment is new Ms. Ramirez, but she likes Satanta because everybody has been welcoming and caring.
She chose to come to Satanta because she wanted to be an art teacher and Satanta was looking for a full-time art teacher. She said she loves teaching art. She wants students in class to show their art work and be accomplished.
Some goals Ms. Ramirez has set include getting students' art work to go to the state fair and submitting artwork to various competitions. She would also like to see some of her students participate in a contest to design shoes for Vans, where the winner’s school will receive $50,000 for the art program.
Ms. Ramirez has lots of ideas she’s bringing into her classroom, and her plans have helped revive interest in art. We are lucky she chose to be here!
