FCCLA Participates in Fall Leadership Conference

by Emmalee Johnson

Despite the ongoing Covid-19 situation, the Satanta FCCLA chapter has been able to participate in multiple events this school year. One of these events was traveling to Ulysses for the District F Fall Leadership Conference. A group of 10 members, including the State Vice President of Individual Programs Kara Kunselman and the District Vice President of Finance Mia Burrows attended FLC.

At the event, Dr. Junehee Kwon from Kansas State University spoke about business and manners. After Dr. Kwon finished her speech, members were divided into groups to participate in breakout sessions. These sessions included “Traffic Safety” with State Trooper Racy, “Suicide Prevention” with Alex Granados, “Student Body Jeopardy” with Kara Kunselman, “The Price is Right with FCCLA” with the Financial Fitness team from Hoisington High School, “Geriatrics” with South Gray High School, “Safe Dates” with Maria Munoz and “Read Allowed” with Maribel Sandoval.

By the end of the conference, members had learned about many skills that they can use in their everyday lives and acquired the knowledge to become better members, friends and leaders.
