We have been working with our seniors to get them ready for Kansas Apply Free Days, October 7-9, by having deep discussions about careers and colleges, certificate programs and military enlistment. We've worked on resumes, requested letters of recommendation, and edited personal statements. Whether you are a parent or grandparent, a mentor or a neighbor, please encourage the young people in your life to take advantage of this opportunity to apply to Kansas schools for free.
As noted in the on the KBOR website, https://www.kansasregents.org/students/apply-free-days, it is always free to apply at some colleges and universities, but by focusing on getting applications done at school where this support for the process, we hope to ensure that every student has the opportunity to pursue his or her dreams.
This will be the first of many efforts, including a future FAFSA night, where we will work to make post-secondary education attainable for all our students, in whatever form that might take.

Satanta is a part of the State Program SAFE, which stands for Seatbelts Are For Everyone. SAFE is a student-led program that encourages students and staff to make the "Safe" choice and wear seatbelts. A few students stood outside this morning and tracked the number of people who were seatbelts versus not wearing seatbelts. Be on the lookout to see more activities students will be participating in through the SAFE Program and through STUCO.
Silas dropped off pop tab donations at the Ronald McDonald House. Thanks for your donations! We will continue to collect pop tabs at SGS throughout the year.

Great day for Satanta cross country at the South Gray Invitational. Kace placed 1st place in JH boys; in JH girls, Harley was 4th, Avery 7th, and Jazmin 9th; in JV boys, Deacon was 3rd, Jalynn 4th, and Gabe 6th; and in Varsity boys, Edgar was 7th! Way to go, Indians!
This morning the faculty and staff of Satanta Jr.-Sr. High School welcomed Janet Enriquez, a High Plains special education teacher, to our school with a donut reception that included housewarming gifts. Ms. Enriquez, a native of the Philippines, has received a warm welcome from the community of Satanta as well. Many local residents have given furniture and household items to Ms. Enriquez as a means of welcoming her to the United States. Please join us in welcoming Ms. Enriquez!
