The Satanta Summer Learning crew (representing Satanta Jr.-Sr. School) would like to invite you to attend a culminating pop-up event on Thursday, June 27 beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria and on the practice field at Satanta High School. This fun-filled event will feature small businesses created by USD 507 Summer Learning students who are currently studying entrepreneurship during a three-week course.
The anchor of the pop-up shopping center will be Birria Loca, a sit-down restaurant featuring tacos and Mexican-style birria noodles. Birria, for those unfamiliar with the dish, is beef marinated in an adobo made of vinegar, dried chiles, garlic, and herbs and spices. The restaurant will offer specialty beverages such as agua de horchata and desserts including flan. Meal prices are $10 with beverages and desserts adding to your total. To-go items will be offered.
Businesses located in the same space as Birria Loca will include the Candle Crew, which will offer $5 hand-poured candles in four scents; To Dye for Designs, which will offer handmade tie-dye t-shirts in sizes youth medium through adult 2XL as well as bucket hats, all for $12; Wanted Cupcakes, which will offer cupcakes: singles (at $2), half dozens, and full dozens with quantity discounts; and Happy Jewelry, which will sell a variety of adornments, primarily bracelets, which range from $4-$6 for people of all ages with customization available. These bracelets, like all our offerings, will be handcrafted.
Outside, our activities crew will offer games for children including an obstacle course and water balloon dodgeball. Five-dollar all-access wristbands will allow children ages four and up play the games for the duration of the event.
Your support of this event is greatly appreciated and will play a vital role in the learning process, helping our students learn basic bookkeeping and accounting as well as the soft skills that are so vitally needed in today’s workplace. Kindly bring cash to this event so that our students can learn to make correct change. In the true spirit of business, our students will be paid from the profits of their endeavors. Thank you in advance for your support!
