Tiger Day Alternative Announced

In the past, USD 507 has worked to help our students better understand the world of education beyond high school by getting them onto campuses of all sorts: community colleges, vocational schools, and four-year universities. We are pleased to resume these efforts this year.

Nevertheless, because of a conflict with SPIAA League Volleyball, we will not be able to attend the full Fall Tiger Day at Fort Hays State University on Wednesday, October 11. However, thanks to the generosity of Jon Armstrong, FHSU Admissions Director, Satanta has been offered its own mini–Tiger Day experience on Saturday, November 1.

This event will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will include a campus experience, attendance at an afternoon FHSU home football game, and dinner out at Thirsty’s in Hays. Because this event is being customized for our school, sophomores, juniors, and seniors are all invited to attend.

Participants will depart promptly at 6:00 a.m. from Satanta High School and will return at approximately 10:00 p.m. that evening. Please see the larger itinerary in the fuller version of this communication. Dress for the weather and consider wearing your TRIBE shirt.

We will pay for the evening meal out of the TRIBE account. Please bring cash (maybe $20) for concessions (lunch at the football game) and other snacks. FHSU Admissions is covering the cost of the football tickets. For this reason, it is imperative that participants register for the trip and commit to attending it.

Please find attached here a fuller version of this communication along with a permission form. Paper copies of this communication and the accompanying form will be distributed in class this week.

Please let Mr. Burrows know if you have questions!
