SHS Fall Standout Athlete, Edgar Najera. Edgar participated in both football and cross country. In cross country, he set a new school record with a 5K time of 17:41 and qualified for the state cross country championship by placing 11th at regionals. He medaled at every meet this season. In football, he led the team defensively with 63.5 solo tackles, 8 pass breakups, and 1 interception. He also led the team with 27 broken tackles and 2 receiving touchtowns.
Edgar has shown outstanding leadership and served as a role model for younger athletes. He works hard, often playing football on Friday night and getting up early the next morning to run in a cross country meet. He encourages and supports his teammates while striving to improve his own skills. We are proud of you, Edgar!

The USD 507 Care Closet will be open during Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 23 from 8 am to 8 pm. All Satanta families are welcome to come shop for gently used apparel and personal hygiene items.
We are also currently (and almost always) accepting donations of clothing. We only ask that you carefully select items for donation that are clean, stain-free, and not in need of repairs.
As basketball season approaches, we will also be accepting monetary donations to the SPEAR program, which aims to ensure that no student decides not to play a sport or participate in an activity because he or she doesn't have the shoes or clothing items needed to do so.

The Satanta High School Scholars' Bowl team placed first out of 14 teams at the Ashland Invitational Meet tonight with a 6-0 record in pool play and a 4-1 record in the final round-robin.

The classes of 2026 and 2038 (our senior and kindergarten classes) will both be recognized at the SHS football game on Saturday, October 18 at 5:45 during Senior Night. Kindergarteners should meet at the east side of the field at 5:30.

Congratulations to Hailey, Mackenzie, and Edgar for medaling at the SPIAA league meet today. Hailey placed 4th, Mackenzie 6th, and Edgar 7th. Stay tuned for full results!


Satanta High School participated in KSHSAA's fall "Officials' Appreciation Week" during last Friday's home football game by recognizing the officiating crew before the start of the contest. They were presented with a small token of appreciation prior to kickoff on behalf of our student-athletes, coaches, and administration by Athletic Director Joyce Apsley, and Dr. Chuck Carpenter, Principal. Thank you for your time serving the game and our student-athletes!
