On October 29, the Chieftain Yearbook Staff traveled to the grade school to lead a camera training for interested 5th graders — and all fourteen students signed up to participate!
GS Photography Adviser Tiffany Briggs and Chieftain Adviser Courtney Dunn partnered to create opportunities for these young photographers to capture life around the grade school while fostering leadership, creativity, and positive behavior.
An incentive program has also been developed to encourage continued participation. Students who meet expectations may have the opportunity to join yearbook photographers at school events—like home basketball games—to experience taking photos from the sidelines.
After completing the training and signing a photography contract, each 5th grader will receive a certificate of completion recognizing their commitment and new skills.
Student photos may be featured on Facebook, the school website, and even in the yearbook!
We’re excited to see their work in action — welcome to the team, 5th grade!

We will serve a Thanksgiving feast for our students and families on Thursday, November 20, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Satanta Grade School. We would love to have you join us on this day to eat lunch with your child. We will start serving the Kindergarten students at 11:00 and will work our way to 5th grade. Junior high and high school students will be bussed over to eat at 11:40. If you have students in both buildings and would like them to eat together, please notify the high school of your plans. Junior high and high school students can be picked up and signed out by a parent.
Please purchase tickets in the grade school office before the meal or bring exact change or a check. The cost for guests is $6 per meal.

We are also currently (and almost always) accepting donations of clothing. We only ask that you carefully select items for donation that are clean, stain-free, and not in need of repairs.
As basketball season approaches, we will also be accepting monetary donations to the SPEAR program, which aims to ensure that no student decides not to play a sport or participate in an activity because he or she doesn't have the shoes or clothing items needed to do so.
Thank you for your continuing supprort of USD 507 students!

🎃👻 It’s almost parade time! 👻🎃
