
SGS Awards will be held on Friday, May 16, at 11 a.m. in the SGS gym. Students will be dismissed following the awards ceremony. There will be no lunch served. Have a great summer!


Satanta High School Honors 2025 Scholarship Recipients at Annual Assembly
Satanta, KS – Satanta High School celebrated the accomplishments of its senior class at the annual Scholarship Assembly held on May 7, 2025. During the event, numerous scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors in recognition of their academic achievements, leadership, service, and career ambitions.
Morgan Pendergraft received the $650 Jan McLeland Memorial Scholarship, the $500 Carl Wilson Memorial Scholarship, a $2,000 Sublette United Methodist Men’s Scholarship, a $1,000 Statesman Scholarship, and a $500 Satanta Alumni Scholarship. She also received a $20,000 Friends University Softball Scholarship.
Andrea Gutierrez was awarded the $1,000 Yolande Bestgen Memorial Scholarship, a $2,000 Sublette United Methodist Men’s Scholarship, a $250 American Red Cross Scholarship, the $1,000 Satanta District Hospital Scholarship, and a $500 Satanta Alumni Scholarship. She was also recognized as the outgoing Princess Satanta, receiving an additional $500 award.
Yahaira Puerto received the $500 Henderson Memorial Foundation Scholarship, a $2,000 Sublette United Methodist Men’s Scholarship, a $500 Pioneer Communications Scholarship, the $1,000 Betty and Rolland Werner Scholarship from the Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas, a $250 American Red Cross Scholarship, a renewable basketball scholarship from Seward County Community College, and a $500 Satanta Alumni Scholarship.
Eva Loewen was awarded a $2,000 Sublette United Methodist Men’s Scholarship, a $1,000 Invenergy Scholarship, a $1,500 Finnup Foundation Scholarship, a $1,000 Garden City Community College Endowment Scholarship, a $500 Haskell County Soil Conservation District Scholarship, a $500 KLC Farm Scholarship, an $800 Haskell County Fair Board Scholarship, and a $500 Satanta Alumni Scholarship.
Marlen Perez Munguia received a $2,000 Sublette United Methodist Men’s Scholarship, a $500 Pioneer Communications Scholarship, a $500 Haskell County Rotary Student of the Month Award, a $500 Southwest Kansas Board of Realtors Scholarship, the $400 Brandon Salas Memorial Scholarship, and the Seward County Community College Presidential Scholarship, which covers books and tuition and is renewable. She also earned a $500 Satanta Alumni Scholarship and a $200 SHS Art Club Scholarship.
Kassady Lazar was awarded a $2,000 Sublette United Methodist Men’s Scholarship, a $1,000 Garden City Community College Scholarship, a $500 KLC Farm Scholarship, a $600 Haskell County Fair Board Scholarship, and a $500 Satanta Alumni Scholarship.
Isaiah Manriquez, recognized as the outgoing Chief Satanta, received a $500 award and a $1,500 Southern Pioneer Electric Lineman Scholarship.
Vladimir Alvarado received the $2,000 Tom and Donna Shirley Family Scholarship via the Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas, a $500 Haskell County Soil Conservation District Scholarship, and a $500 Class of ’69 Scholarship.

It was a beautiful afternoon for Field Day! Thank you to Ms. Heskamp for organizing it, Chill Zone for the snow cones, and the junior high and high school students for helping!











Field Day will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow at the SHS track. Students will return to the grade school after field day for dismissal. Students will run, jump, play in water, and enjoy snow cones, so please make sure they dress accordingly. Looking forward to a fun afternoon!

The All-School Cookout will be held Thursday, May 8, at Satanta Grade School. Tickets are $6--please either prepurchase tickets or bring exact change or a check as we will not be able to make change in the line. We will begin serving kindergarten at 11. The junior high track team will be bussed over at 11:15. Other junior high and high school studnets will be bussed over at 11:40. Please enter through the SGS front doors.
