Congratulations to our students who made the honor roll for the 3rd quarter!

Kids learn more when they are at school! Research shows that frequent absences from school have a negative impact on later academic success. Families can help students succeed by encouraging regular school attendance, only keeping students home when they are sick, planning vacations during school breaks, and scheduling appointments to avoid missing an entire day of school.
SGS set a goal of 95% average daily attendance this school year. We exceeded this goal first semester with an average attendance rate of 96%. We fell short the third nine weeks, with an attendance rate of 93%. Let's finish the school year strong by meeting our attendance goal the fourth nine weeks!

Our Creative Tribe created over 500 works of art this week! Thank you to Kim Brook for sharing your talent with us and Satanta Area Arts Council for helping to fund this project!

Have a great Spring Break! School resumes on Monday, March 18!

After Spring Break, Shannon Indiek, LMSW with Hope and Healing Counseling, will begin providing services to children and young adults in our community. Shannon has worked as a licensed therapist for almost 4 years and is looking forward to seeing students in the USD 507 district. Shannon will be able to provide services during school hours in both Satanta Grade School and Satanta Jr. Sr. High School. Hope and Healing Counseling accepts most health insurance and is able to work with families who are uninsured. Please contact Shannon with any questions or concerns or to set up appointments.
These services are not affiliated with USD 507. Families are responsible for setting up appointments and making arrangements for payment.

These kindergartners have earned 100 Dojo points!

SGS students are working with Artist in Residence Kim Brook this week thanks to a collaboration between USD 507 and the Satanta Area Arts Council. On Monday they learned about artist Dale Chihuly.

Did you know that in the 2022-23 school year, USD 507 Satanta spent $112,000 out of the general fund on special education services? This is due to a lack of special education funding and is the equivalent of more than two teacher salaries. When special education is not fully funded at the state and federal levels, local school districts must fill in the gap from the general fund, which affects educational opportunities for all students. #DYKKansasKids @USAKansas @kasbpublicEd @ksdehq @aasahq
