White Out Day at SGS on Friday, March 10.
This will be the last day of our glow-in-the-dark art week. Students will get to experiment with the art they've created. We encourage everyone to wear white to become part of the glow-in-the-dark experience.

Officer Klebba brought his new police dog in training to visit the kindergarten classes. The kindergarten classes from Satanta and Sublette will suggest names for the dog.

Our SGS Artist in Residence, Kim Brook, will return next week to teach art classes to our K-5 students. She needs two AA batteries for each student (approximately 200 batteries total). If you are able to provide batteries, please bring them to the grade school office or send them with a student by Monday, March 6. Thank you! And thank you to the Satanta Area Arts Council for sponsoring our Artist in Residence!

As you may know, several area districts were affected by "swatting" calls yesterday when police departments received false reports of active shooters on school campuses, leading schools to go into lockdown. We want to assure families that we take the safety of our schools seriously, as well as our students' emotional health. We have a crisis plan in place, and we communicate with law enforcement regularly to keep our students safe and respond appropriately to threats.

Satanta Daycare (USD 507 and Satanta District Hospital) is hiring for a daycare assistant. $12 per hour, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Apply at USD 507 Central Office. Direct questions to Krista Phoenix (kphoenix@usd507.org).

USD 507 will have a parent input meeting on Tuesday, February 28, at 5:30 at Sacred Grounds. This is for all district parents and community members. We are starting a new accreditation cycle, and we'd love to get your input on the direction our district should take going forward. The coffee shop will be open, and we promise not to take too much of your time!

Our first group of 1st grade readers earned 20 AR points! Way to go!

Here is the link to sign up for the PAX Tools Workshop at SGS on March 23 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. This workshop is to help parents form positive relationships with children and reduce problematic behavior. No school tomorrow (2-16) for USD 507 Satanta. Parent teacher conferences will still be held as scheduled. Please contact teachers if you need to reschedule or prefer a zoom or phone conference. Classes will resume Tuesday, 2-21.

Based on predictions of wind and snow, we have decided to cancel school for tomorrow, February 15. Because blowing snow is predicted for dismissal time, we believe it is safer to keep students at home rather than risk sending them home in unsafe conditions. This decision was made after discussion with area school superintendents. Stay safe and warm!

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders read and learned about the history of the Super Bowl. They they practiced their field goal kicking skills.
