Congratulations to our 2026-27 cheerleaders!

SHS would like to congratulate Hayley Soto on being nominated and selected the third quarter Teacher of the Quarter. One student nomination read: "Mrs. Soto is a kind and genuine person. She is always willing to help other students with any assignments they have questions about. She has stepped up as class sponsor, cheer coach, and broadcasting sponsor. Mrs. Soto doesn't just teach; she inspires others to be the best they can be through compassion and understanding."
Congratulations, Mrs. Soto!
Congratulations, Mrs. Soto!

A HUGE shout-out to the volunteers who made tonight's 32-team quiz bowl tournament a success!
From running 16 competition rooms to preparing 250 corn dogs to making four plaques, it took all of us, but we did it in just over three hours. We might even do it again . . . in year, that is!

Great job, Adrian Aguilar, on the Junior High Boy Basketball season recap video!

Satanta freshman Dylan Doerksen participated in the HOSA State Leadership Conference in Wichita on March 2-3 where she competed in forensics science.
She did not advance to nationals, but we are incredibly proud of her pursuit of academic excellence!

The USD 507 BOE March meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 9.
Saturday's forensics meet was a huge undertaking that was made possible by the volunteer efforts of so many people that we don't know where to start with our thank you list!
One place to begin is with our friends and co-hosts from Moscow. It's always a pleasure working with our neighbors to the west!
Our local judges, including many first-time volunteers, were awesome, and we loved getting the support of Garden City Community College's speech and debate coaches.
Our draw workers, Erika Alexander and Karen Burrows, provided four rounds of solid leadership.
Our concessions and hospitality workers were terrific as well. Shout out to Lori Zimmerman for her never-ending service to our school!
We are also deeply grateful for the coaches who ran the tab room today. What a great group of people!
No fooling, we're hosting the SPIAA league tournament on April 1, and we'll get to do it all over again soon!

The Satanta Indian Forensics team added two new state qualifiers at today's Moscow-Satanta Forensics Meet!
Liam Hatcher qualified his prose selection for state competition, making this his third qualifying event. He is now qualified in serious solo, POI, and prose.
Deacon Hockett qualified in informative today.
The pair joins Dylan Doerksen who qualified for state in informative at an earlier meet.
Go, Indians!

See what is going on this week!

Satanta Junior-Senior High School prioritizes post-secondary success. In effort to ensure that all of our students understand college and career opportunities after high school, we visit community colleges, vocational schools, and universities each year. Today Satanta students in grades 6-12 visited Seward County Community College. Go, Big Green! Students and their sponsors were treated to a complimentary picnic lunch in the SCCC courtyard where they also enjoyed inflatable games and a mechanical bull. SCCC Admissions Director, Erika Espinoza, then met the group and took them to the Green House for a photo opportunity with SHS alumni and SCCC women's basketball player, Yahaira Puerto. Espinoza next led the group on a campus tour where they encountered Satanta alumni Edwardo (Lalo) Mata. The group also met up with Louie the Saint, another Satanta favorite. The group was gifted free SCCC Homecoming shirts and other Saints swag before watching the Seward women defeat Cowley College Tigers. USD 507 deeply values its relationship with SCCC, which provides concurrent college coursework, online classes, and vocational training at affordable prices to Satanta students and to the larger Southwest Kansas community. Thank you, SCCC, for making this such a great visit!

Congratulations to these PreACT Rising Stars!

Congratulations Cameron Ross! Cameron will attend FHSU in the Fall and throw javelin for the Tigers.

Our Lighthouse Team held their third quarter Shout-Out assembly yesterday where they gave updates on student-led areas including academics, leadership, and culture. They ended with a culture-building activity involving a balloon race and t-shirt toss.
