Edgar Najera, a sophomore at Satanta High School, has been selected to participate in the 2025 Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Youth Tour in Washington, D.C., from June 2-6, 2025. Najera earned this opportunity by writing an essay about the role of technology in his life, showcasing his understanding of its impact on rural communities. Sponsored by Pioneer Communications, the Youth Tour gives students an inside look at the telecommunications industry, educates them about the legislative and governmental process, and provides a once-in-a-lifetime experience exploring the nation’s capital. Participants will also have the chance to meet and connect with other students from rural communities across the country, forming friendships that last a lifetime. Congratulations, Edgar, on this incredible achievement! We are excited to see you represent our community in Washington, D.C.

Satanta FCCLA Member Receives Foundation Grant Hannah Wood and the Satanta Jr.-Sr. High School FCCLA chapter are the recipients of the Kansas FCCLA Education Foundation Grant. Hannah’s STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Event for the year focuses on supporting families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Kansas City. Having personally spent time at the Ronald McDonald House—affectionately known as the "Rondo"—while her brother underwent cancer treatment this year, Hannah was inspired to give back. She has contributed in multiple ways, including organizing Snack Packs, distributing holiday gift cards, and leading a Personal Care Drive. Additionally, the Satanta FCCLA chapter sold socks, donating a portion of the proceeds to the Ronald McDonald House in Kansas City to be used as needed. Donations from the community have supported Hannah’s efforts, and the $200 Foundation Grant will help purchase personal care items for the families staying at the Rondo. Hannah completed a STAR Event for the District F competition and is now advancing to the State competition in April. Her project exemplifies true community service, benefiting both the local community and the Ronald McDonald House community that has provided support to her family and many others.

The Satanta High School SPEAR/Care Closet Program extends its heartfelt gratitude to Cloverleaf 4-H for its generous donation of $1,015. These funds will play a vital role in supporting local families by helping to reduce food insecurity, providing essential toiletry items for those in need, and ensuring that every Satanta student has access to proper athletic gear—primarily shoes—so they can participate in sports, regardless of financial circumstances. We are incredibly thankful for the generosity of donors like Cloverleaf 4-H, whose support makes a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and their families!
