Diamond is the daughter of Micah Wood and Bethany Wood. Graduating with an impressive 3.8 GPA, Diamond has distinguished herself through academic achievement, perseverance, leadership, and service. Throughout her high school career, she consistently earned Honor Roll recognition while balancing a demanding schedule of athletics, extracurricular involvement, employment, and community activities.
Diamond has been one of the most active students in the Class of 2026. She has participated in volleyball, basketball, cross country, powerlifting, track, and softball, demonstrating versatility, and discipline. Her willingness to represent Satanta High School across multiple sports reflects both dedication and school pride.
Beyond athletics, Diamond has been heavily involved in student life through Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Art Club, 4-H, and 4-H Council. She also participated in the SPIAA Big Read Contest, showing her commitment to both leadership and academics.
Service to others has been a defining part of Diamond’s high school years. Through the Satanta Methodist Church, she has helped serve community meals, worked in the food pantry, taught Sunday School, provided nursery care, and assisted with Vacation Bible School. Through 4-H, she has supported fundraisers, worked at the Haskell County Fair, and completed leadership training as a Junior Apprentice for Shooting Sports. Her record of service demonstrates compassion, responsibility, and a desire to strengthen her community.
Diamond has also built a strong work ethic through employment experiences that include childcare, customer service, and seasonal leadership opportunities at Glorieta Adventure Camps, along with work at Chill Zone Shaved Ice. These experiences have helped her develop maturity and dependability.
Perhaps most inspiring is Diamond’s perseverance. She has overcome significant personal challenges with courage and determination while continuing to succeed in the classroom and in her many commitments. Her journey reflects resilience, faith, and the ability to grow stronger through adversity. She hopes her story will inspire others to become their best selves.
This fall, Diamond plans to attend Seward County Community College to pursue a career in early childhood education. She hopes to use her education to positively influence young learners and help shape the next generation through the compassion, guidance, and strong teaching she was provided by USD 507.
Satanta High School congratulates Diamond Wood on being named Salutatorian of the Class of 2026. Her hard work, character, and dedication to excellence have made her an outstanding representative of her class, and the future ahead is full of promise.
Satanta High School is proud to announce Cameron Ross as the Valedictorian of the Class of 2026. Cameron is the daughter of Chip Ross and Monica Ross.
Graduating with an outstanding 3.98 GPA, Cameron has distinguished herself through academic excellence, leadership, athletics, and service. Throughout high school, she consistently earned honor roll recognition and received academic awards while also challenging herself through concurrent college coursework at Seward County Community College and Garden City Community College. Her college studies include in-person courses in Composition I and II, College Algebra, and College Statistics as well as online coursework in Developmental Psychology, Public Speaking, Music Appreciation, Medical Terminology, and Child Abuse, Neglect & Trauma.
Cameron has been a highly involved student leader during her time at Satanta High School. She served as President of the Class of 2026, President of National Honor Society, and held multiple leadership positions in Student Council. Her dedication to representing her classmates and contributing to school life has made a lasting impact on the school community.
Cameron has also excelled in athletics, particularly in volleyball and track. She was a freshman varsity starter in volleyball and earned multiple all-league honors, including first team selections in 2024 and 2025. In track and field, she is among the state’s top javelin throwers. She was the 2024 SPIAA League champion in javelin and qualified twice for the Kansas State Track and Field Championships, earning an eighth-place finish in 2023 and a third-place state finish in 2025. In the spring of 2026, she threw 152-2, breaking her own school record of 140-6, and now owns the number 1 throw in all classes in Kansas for the current season.
In spite of such resounding success, Cameron is very humble and has always devoted herself to serving others. During her time at Satanta High School, she volunteered at community blood drives, helped organize school supply distributions, participated in school and community beautification projects, and supported other student-athletes through the KAY Fuel Our Athletes program. Her work experience at Satanta Retail Pharmacy has further demonstrated her responsibility, professionalism, and strong work ethic.
This fall, Cameron plans to attend Fort Hays State University on a track and field scholarship, where she will continue her academic and athletic career while competing in javelin. She intends to pursue a future in radiology.
Satanta High School congratulates Cameron Ross on this remarkable achievement. Her dedication, character, and commitment to excellence have made her an exceptional representative of the Class of 2026, and the future ahead is bright.
